The Central Coast has quietly become one of NSW's most interesting craft beer and small-producer drinks regions, with a handful of excellent breweries, a botanical winery and a destination gin distillery — all within 30 minutes of Forries Beach Cottage.
Six String Brewing Co (Erina) — the original Central Coast craft brewery. Taproom with rotating taps, food trucks on weekends, and one of the best beer gardens north of Sydney. Their Hazy Pale and Dark Red IPA are flagship pours.
Block 'n Tackle Brewing (Tuggerah) — fishing-themed local brewery with a relaxed taproom, regular live music and a strong rotating IPA program. Family-friendly until early evening.
Box Head Brewing Co (Erina) — taproom with wood-fired pizza on site. Easy stop on the way back from Erina Fair.
5 Sawyers Brewing (Wyong) — small-batch microbrewery with a cult following for their lagers.
Hop Springs Brewery (Tumbi Umbi) — modern taproom with full kitchen and outdoor seating.
Distilleries
Distillery Botanica (Erina) — multi-award-winning craft distillery (15 min) producing the famous Mr Black coffee liqueur and a botanical Murraya Gin. Tastings, paddles and bottle sales by appointment.
Brogans Way Distillery — small-batch gins increasingly available at Central Coast venues.
Wineries
Firescreek Botanical Winery (Holgate) — destination winery (25 min) producing fruit, flower and herb wines (no grapes) in a beautiful garden setting. Cellar door tastings on weekends, lovely lunch venue.
Bago Vineyards / cellar door tastings at the Pearl — for traditional grape wines, the Hunter Valley is 1 hour north and easily a day trip.
Best bottle shops to take a slab home
Dan Murphy's Erina — biggest selection on the coast, including local beers and wines.
Bottlemart Wamberal — closest full bottle shop to the cottage, well-priced cold beer.
The Brew Cellar (Terrigal) — independent shop with a strong focus on local craft beer.
Suggested half-day brewery tour
Lunch at Six String Brewing (Erina) — grab a paddle, share food-truck plates.
Finish at Box Head for wood-fired pizza on the way home.
Use a designated driver, or book a Central Coast brewery tour shuttle (several local operators run weekend tours). It's about 15 minutes back to the cottage from the Erina cluster.
