Forresters Beach — quiet locals' beach with off-leash dog area; great for boogie boarding when the swell is small.
Wamberal Beach & lagoon — patrolled in summer, calm lagoon perfect for toddlers.
Shelly Beach playground & Surf Club — beachfront playground with shaded picnic tables and bistro right next door.
Terrigal Haven — sheltered swimming spot for little kids, calm even on big-swell days.
Terrigal Skate Park & playground — across from the beach, behind the surf club.

Pelican Feeding at The Entrance — daily at 3:30pm, free, on the Memorial Park foreshore. The classic Central Coast family experience.
The Entrance Memorial Park playground — large playground, splash zone in summer, plenty of cafes nearby.
Australian Reptile Park (Somersby) — interactive zoo with crocodile feedings, koala holds, Galapagos tortoises and Tasmanian devils. Best wet-weather option on the coast.

Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures — horse riding (suitable from age 6), pony rides for under-6s, kayaking, quad biking, abseiling, camping. Easy half-day or full-day visit.
Bouddi National Park — Putty Beach to Maitland Bay — gentle bushwalk to a hidden beach (1.5 hr return), great for older kids.
Walkabout Wildlife Park (Calga) — free-range native animals, wallabies and kangaroos roaming the trails with you.
