After a long beach day, sometimes the last thing you want to do is leave the cottage. The good news is that Forries Beach Cottage sits inside the delivery zones of dozens of excellent restaurants spanning Forresters Beach, Wamberal, Terrigal, Bateau Bay, Long Jetty and The Entrance — so dinner can be at the kitchen bench in 30 minutes flat. UberEats, DoorDash and Menulog all service the address (3 Peter Ave, Forresters Beach), and most of the venues below also offer direct phone-order pickup if you'd rather grab and go on your way back from the beach.
For pizza, our nearest local is Pizza Box @Forries — literally on Forresters Beach Road, a five-minute drive (or a 15-minute walk) from the cottage. They do classic and gourmet pizzas and are a go-to for big group orders. For something more upmarket, Lagune Artisan Pizza Co at Wamberal does superb wood-fired pies with fancy toppings, and 3 Peppers Pizza & Pasta at Bateau Bay is a family-run Italian beloved for generous portions and authentic pasta.
Asian takeaway is where the Coast really shines. Spice Noodle Bar and Giant Thai at Terrigal are both consistently excellent for Thai (Giant Thai also has stunning ocean views if you want to dine in before takeaway). For Chinese, locals swear by Fortune Lane at Terrigal and Long Jetty Chinese for the classic Aussie–Chinese dishes done properly. Vietnamese fans should head to Hoi An Terrigal for proper pho and rice paper rolls, or Roll'd at Bateau Bay for a quick, healthy fix.
Indian: The Royal Palace at Terrigal is the longstanding favourite — proper North Indian curries, fresh naan and reliable delivery. Rajdhani at Wamberal is the closest to the cottage and does excellent tandoori. Burgers and quick bites: Moobi Burgers at Wamberal does proper gourmet beef burgers with crispy chips — easily the standout in the area. The big chains (KFC, McDonald's, Domino's, Pizza Hut) are all clustered at Bateau Bay's Bay Village shopping centre, about 7 minutes from the cottage, with McDonald's open 24 hours if you've got a late-night craving.
Local ordering tips: Friday and Saturday nights between 6pm and 8pm are the busiest delivery windows, so order by 6pm to avoid 60-minute waits. Most independent restaurants close their kitchens by 9pm — check times before ordering late. If a restaurant isn't on the delivery apps, a direct phone call almost always gets you better service and avoids the 15–25% app surcharge. And don't forget that Forresters Beach has limited mobile coverage in spots near the cottage — the wifi at Forries Cottage is fast, so order from the lounge before you head down to the beach.
